Fresh, Yummy, Clean & Healthy Salsa

Mango Quinoa Black Bean Salsa

Ok this is seriously the one of the tastiest combos I have ever come across. You can basically add whatever veggies or fruits you like as long as you keep the base of the beans and quinoa/rice for the protein componant. I think it reminds me of a fine wine in which there are so many different layers of flavour that in the end all come together so well. There is sweet, sour, sightly salty, nutty, and spicy all rolled into one bowl of delicious yumminess. Oh AND good for you. This is great for detox because it is a high energy meal containing a wonderful combo of so many nutrients, a complete clean source of protein, plus the added fibre of the beans is so filling and helps facilitate the "exit" process for the detox. :) A win/win. Enjoy! xo

This is what I added to make as picture above. It makes about 3 cups. I would eat this as a complete meal (aprox 1.5 cups...I like eating ok?..lol!) but it would defintely work as a side dish as well.

1 ripe mango cut into chunks
1/2 sweet onion chopped
1/2 cup cooked corn
1/2 tomato chopped
1/2 jalapeno pepper chopped finely
1 stalk of celery finely chopped
fresh juice of 1/2 lime
fresh juice of 1/2 lemon
1 tsp of red pepper flakes
dash of cayenne pepper
1 cup of cooked quinoa or brown/wild rice if you prefer..I just LOVE quinoa
1 can of black beans - rinsed very well

Wash well and prepare all fruit and veggies as above then add to bowl and toss. Squeeze in lemon/lime juice. Add spices mix then gently fold in quinoa and black beans. Refrigerate for at least an hour to let flavours get all sexy like and mingle..... ;)

Why Detox??

" The doctor of the future will give no medicine but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease" Thomas Edison

Why detox?? Well if we all lived in a perfect land where the food is clean and fresh, the water pure, in a relaxed environment and lifestyle filled with many happy and loving emotional relationships we probably would never need a detox. Our bodies own detoxification processes would be able to handle everything on its own. But most of us live in a different time and place. Unfortunately because of our modern day lifestyles, our body sysytems are becoming overwhelmed. Thankfully our bodies send us signals when it is in trouble. We just have to listen and take action. Chronic health complaints; digestive disturbances, fatigue, allergies, chronic pain, hormaonal imbalances, and skin disorders are all signals that your body needs additional help.
Waking up tired, chronic headaches, bloating etc...are NOT normal or a sign of getting old.

A comprehensive detox program which addresses diet, an individuals environment, level of stress, daily habits, exercise and emotional health will definitely see chronic conditions improve or even eliminated. Energy levels soar, weight loss becomes easier and cravings subside as hormones stabalize, real clean food becomes your food of choice,  mental clarity and capacity increases , regular sleep cycles return and an improved mental outlook all become the daily norm. Nice!!!!

Ok...enough of my "Sales" pitch......LET'S DO THIS!!!!

Aspartame.......AKA....AminoSweet...AKA...Poison

Please take the time to read information I came across today written by Michelle Schoffro Cook re Aspartame. Michelle has obviously done her homework and has lots of good points to consider. It really makes me angry that they are trying to bring this back but hide it under another name - AminoSweet.  Please avoid Aspartame/AminoSweet at all costs and share this info with others. Knowledge and sharing is our power.

First developed in 1974, by 1980, an FDA Board of Inquiry voted unanimously AGAINST approving aspartame for human consumption, but the vote was overruled by the FDA commissioner Arthur Hull Hayes Jr. by 1983. Only one year after the approval, an FDA task force learned that some of the original data showcasing aspartame s safety had been falsified to hide results showing animals fed aspartame had developed seizures and brain tumors; however, the FDA maintained its approval of this product.
In 1983, the same year aspartame was approved for use in carbonated beverages, a neuroscientist published reports in The New England Journal of Medicine that aspartame may increase body weight by stimulating a craving for calorie-laden carbohydrates.
By 1991, the National Institutes of Health catalogued 167 adverse effects linked to aspartame use. In 1992, the U.S. Air Force issued a warning to pilots not to fly after ingesting aspartame. And by 1994, the US Department of Health and Human Services had linked the artificial sweetener aspartame to the risk of 88 symptoms of toxicity.

Research confirms that aspartame is an excitotoxin. An excitotoxin is a substance that literally excites brain or nervous system cells until they die.
According to Lynne Melcombe, author of Health Hazards of White Sugar, research links aspartame to the following health conditions: anxiety attacks; appetite problems such as binge-eating and sugar cravings; birth defects; blindness and vision problems such as blurred vision, bright flashes, and tunnel vision; brain tumors; chest pain; depression and emotional problems; dizziness and vertigo; edema; epilepsy and seizures; fatigue; headaches and migraines; hearing loss and tinnitus; heart palpitations and arrhythmia; hyperactivity; insomnia; joint pain; learning disabilities; memory loss; menstrual irregularities and PMS (premenstrual syndrome); muscle cramps; nausea; numbness of extremities; psychiatric disorders; reproductive problems; skin lesions; slurred speech; and uterine tumors. Research even links aspartame to death. Aspartames effects can be mistaken for Alzheimers disease, chronic fatigue syndrome, epilepsy, Epstein-Barr virus, Huntingtons chorea, hypothyroidism, Lou Gehrigs disease; Lyme disease, Manieres disease, multiple sclerosis, and postpolio syndrome.
According to Randall Fitzgerald, author of The Hundred-Year Lie, some of the cancers linked to aspartame include: brain, liver, lung, kidney, and lymphoreticular cancer.
Aspartame is found in many diet products, including soft drinks, as well as a wide variety of prepared foods. Shockingly, it is also found in some multivitamins, supplements, and pharmaceutical drugs.
And, here is a shocker. According to the authors of the book Hard to Swallow: When a diet drink containing aspartame is stored at 85 degrees Fahrenheit for a week or longer, There is no aspartame left in the soft drinks, just the components it breaks down into, like formaldehyde, formic acid, and diketopiperazine, a chemical which can cause brain tumours. All of these substances are known to be toxic to humans.
